ChuletónApp
A sports-challenge app with weighted scoring and activity sync. It included a full technical pivot from one third-party API to another without losing users.
An own product to validate an idea for fair fitness gamification: award points by actual effort, not just distance. The interesting technical challenge showed up halfway through.
The problem
The first version relied on a third-party API. When its terms and limits stopped fitting the product, the whole integration had to move to another provider without breaking the experience for users who were already in.
The solution
I rewrote the integration layer behind a common interface, so the rest of the app didn’t know which provider the data came from. The OAuth 2.0 flow — with its refresh-token traps — was isolated and tested.
Result
The pivot completed with no perceptible downtime and no loss of active users, and left the door open to add more providers at low marginal cost.
